Everyone can get overwhelmed by the barrage of health and beauty advice coming from just about every media outlet.  There’s an understandable inclination to simply tune it out. If the case of skincare, there’s an old adage that holds very true – just take of the skin you want to keep. Clearly, that’s fare from logical. The skin is the largest organ in our body, and as such, it certainly deserves our attention. Our skin is made up of mostly water.  As such, hydration is the foundation of good skincare.  Commit to drinking at least 4 glasses of water daily to hydrate your skin. Do realize that coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages actually are dehydrating.  Limit consumption of these and certainly don’t count them as part of the four glasses a day!

Moisturizing is the second component of a healthy skincare regime.  Several in-shower moisturizing products are now on the market that can be used in the shower. The warm water opens the skin’s pores and allows the moisture to really be well-absorbed.  Otherwise, plan on applying a rich emollient moisturizing cream over your entire body following each shower. Select a moisturizer designed especially for the eye area. The skin around the eye is especially thin and requires a sensitive lotion to fully moisturize.

Protect your sun from the sun’s harmful rays. Apply a sunblock with a high SFP each day. This is just as important in the winter as in the summer.
